Chicago IBS IBD is a support group for realizing and discussing important issues:

IBS is hard to diagnose and difficult to treat.

IBS is a not well understood. As a "taboo" topic, support groups like ours offer a sounding board where often times friends and family cannot understand.

Our support group meets to discuss current research on IBS and `new ways to mange IBS with controlling triggers like diet, stress and exercise.

The purpose of the support group is to educate ourselves, cope, learn how to live with, deal with, and control IBS, and offer support.

How do I know if I have IBS? Signs of IBS.

• test to see if you have IBS

• abdominal pain, bloating, and discomfort
• constipation, diarrhea or alternating symptoms

Types of IBS

There are several ways to classify IBS. To be classified IBS-A, IBS-C, IBS-D you must show alternating, constipation or diabetes more than 25% of the time.

• IBS-A, IBS-C, IBS-D
• pain-predominant
• bloating-predominant

IBS and Other Disease Linkages

If you have a thyroid or psychiatric disorder or diabetes you are more likely to suffer from IBS.
